چکیده
Abstract Background In spite of the huge advances in recent medicine, there is no effective drug that completely protects liver from toxic materials. This study was conducted to investigate hepatoprotective effect arctigenin burdock ( Arctium lappa ) against carbon tetrachloride (CCl 4 )-induced injury. Results Arctigenin pre-administration reduced hepatotoxicity markers significantly as compared CCl group. addition, both silymarin and declined matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) serum (1177 ± 176), (978 135) group (1734 294). The hepatic antioxidant parameters (total glutathione, superoxide dismutase, glutathione reductase) were decreased after injection, an has been prevented by arctigenin. Histological examinations illustrated damage, where it inflammation, congestion, ballooning. Conclusions exerted a -induced damage terms suppressing MMP-2 oxidative stress comparative silymarin.

Curcumin Ameliorates Sodium Valproate Induced Neurotoxicity through Suppressing Oxidative Stress and Preventing Mitochondrial Impairments
Background and purpose: Curcumin is a natural polyphenolic compound in turmeric (Curcuma longa). Curcumin has potent free radical scavenger and antioxidant properties that could significantly reduce oxidative damage. Oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction contribute to valproate sodium induced tissue damage. This study investigated the protective effects of curcumin against valproate so...

Objectives. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the hepatoprotective effect of rutin in carbon tetrachloride- (CCl4-) induced liver injuries in rat model. Methods. Forty male Wistar albino rats were divided into four groups. Group I was the control group and received dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO) and olive oil. Group II received rutin. Groups III was treated with CCl4. Group IV was administere...

Anti-oxidant effects of propofol (2, 6-diisopropylphenol) were evaluated agains carbon tetrachloridet CCl4 -induced oxidative stress in rat liver. 30 male rats were equally divided in to 6 groups (5 rats each). Group I (control), while Group II was given CCl4 (3 mL /Kg/day, IP). Animals of Groups III received only propofol (10 mg/Kg/day, IP). Group IV was given propofol+ CCl4. Group V was admin...

متن کاملDiosgenin attenuates cardiac oxidative stress in streptozotocin- induced diabetic rat
Background and Objective: Chronic diabetes mellitus (DM) leads to cardiovascular dysfunction. Diosgenin is a natural steroidal saponin with cardiovascular protective potential. In this research study, the beneficial effect of diosgenin was evaluated on some markers of oxidative stress in cardia tissue of streptozotocin (STZ)-diabetic rats. Materials and Methods: Male Wistar rats (n = 28) were ...
